This session will be an Exploration of the Ethical Coach.

Ethics: is it a skill or a process? Is it a rule or a guide? Coaching ethics frameworks and how they are applied can be confusing due to various factors, such as the numerous self-proclaimed best of the best ethical frameworks available. While ethical frameworks have a significant role to coaching practice their existence in and of themselves does not guarantee ethical coach practice. While many coaches practice ethically, outside of academic coach education institutions there is little evidence of education supporting the building to enhance coach ethical practice. This interactive webinar will encourage exploration of coaching ethical frameworks in guiding ethical practice. Discover the influence of values, culture and beliefs on ethical thinking and practice in all areas of coaching, including coach supervision.

What is needed to practice as an ethical coach?
How will one know they are practicing as an ethical coach?

Wendy-Ann Smith, is a coach and registered psychologist in Australia, France and the UK. An early adopter of both positive and coaching psychology, is a coach with a strong psychological grounding of theory and practice to facilitate wellbeing, personal and professional development of both coaches and coachees. Wendy-Ann creates and delivers lectures, training and coaching at a number of universities both in France and Internationally. She is research supervisor of positive and coaching psychology master’s students and a reviewer for the European Journal of Applied Positive Psychology and the International Coaching Psychology Review. Her current research interests are coach maturity and how this knowledge can translate to coach development. Wendy-Ann is currently leading two large projects on ethics in coaching – one being a conference and the other an edited book. Wendy-Ann has published in the domains of positive psychology and coaching psychology, with her most recent publication being an edited book Positive Psychology Coaching in the Workplace.
