Event Details

November is a time for us to gear up for the end of the year, feeling grateful that there is still a month left to bid farewell to the current year while eagerly anticipating the arrival of the new one.

This month, in the EMCC APR Ethics study group, we will explore 'Chapter 6 - Social Contract Theory' from Ethics: The Fundamentals by Julia Driver and its connection to the Global Code of Ethics. Anindita Das will be leading the discussion on this chapter.

Pre-Meeting Preparation

1. Please read Chapter 6 – Social Contract Theory

2. Kindly bring along copy of Global Code of Ethics

Meeting Agenda:

  • Explore Social Contract Theory and the 'state of nature'
  • Discuss Contractarianism: 'Actual' vs. 'Hypothetical' Contracts
  • Delve into Contractualism and 'Reflective Equilibrium'
  • Examine Social Contract Theory in relation to the Global Code of Ethics
  • Consider Living Ethics: How does Social Contract Theory connect with us in our roles as coaches and mentors?

Join us for the upcoming Ethics Quarterly Webinar on December 11, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM, featuring Dr. Jeanine Stewart. Dr. Stewart will delve into the neuroscientific foundations of ethical decision-making and examine how AI-enabled coaching tools influence coaches' ethical responsibilities towards their clients.
