Event Details

Welcome to the end of year EMCC Asia Pacific ethics and coaching meet up. We are delighted to host our guest speaker, Kathryn Krase, all the way from New York to have an in-depth exploration on four core principles of ethics.

To facilitate deeper discussions and reflections, the webinar will be spread across two sessions: the first on the 20th December, and the second in March (date TBC).

You are welcome to bring with you an ethical policy that you endorse or have an intention to endorse, including your ethical dilemmas to be discussed at the event. Additionally, as we celebrate the year and close the session you will also be invited to join a book study group on ethics.

Session Learning objectives:

  • Ethical principles of beneficence, non-maleficence, autonomy, and justice
  • How ethical codes call on coaches to be active policy advocates at micro, mezzo, and macro levels
  • Coaches will identify policy topics that further a professional and personal interest
  • Demonstrate policy advocacy skill at micro, mezzo, and macro levels
  • Perform policy advocacy at micro and mezzo level

More about Ethics & Coaching...

Coaching being a fluid profession to put the coachees' needs first, ethical decision-making in this profession is challenging at its best; downright difficult at its worst – for the simple yet profound reason that ethics is the only non-negotiable dynamic in this co-created space. We cannot ignore ethics as professional coaches, not only because it defines who we are individually, but also who we are as a society. For the truth remains that our society might fall into chaos if we accept that each of us could pick and choose what the 'right' thing to do is. As Albert Einstein said "relativity applies to physics, not ethics."

This invitation is to take part in the discussions to set the standards of best practices in coaching in ethical terms and advocate the norms of behaviour that everyone in coaching, mentoring and supervision should follow.
