This presentation addresses the perception by clients of influence thought to be directed on to them by others. It describes approaches for the coach to help the client effectively gain and use an understanding of these perceptions. From Freud to the present day, various views of psychological projection have developed. Individual and group case studies are used to illustrate the approach, in which the client views a map of the perceived influence as if an objective 'novelist', resulting in an understanding and management of the perceived influence.
